Viognier 2024
Lost Oak Winery
Viognier (Vee-own-yay) is a white grape that originated in the Rhone region of France. It is gaining in popularity all over the world. It tends to have a fuller body similar to a Chardonnay but with a more floral character in the aroma. It does well in Texas because it requires a warmer growing region. This makes it particularly suited for the Texas High Plains.
A slightly honey colored, this 2024 Viognier is bursting with personality. It opens up with aromas of delicate white flowers mingled with honeydew, nectarine, and dragon fruit. Flavors of crisp citrus are softened by peach, starfruit, and melon with a lingering finish of crisp acidity that mimics grapefruit. This Viognier will be an instant favorite for sipping on the porch.
Pair with melon salad, sun-dried tomato hummus, grilled lemon shrimp skewers, chicken street tacos with mango salsa, cornish game hen in white wine sauce, or citrus ambrosia salad.
