Mourvèdre (more-VEH-drha), also known as Mataró or Monastrell, is a red grape varietal that historically has been grown in France and Spain. It does well in warm to hot climates making it a perfect addition to Texas winemaking. It is most famous for blending with Grenache and Syrah to create a GSM.
Ruby in color, the 2021 Mourvèdre is eager to greet the senses. Spicy aromas of cardamom, white peppercorn, tart cherry, and sweet tobacco mix with gentle floral notes. This Mourvèdre is bursting with wild berries and black tea. Rich espresso and dark cocoa notes linger on the finish.
